The Key Lessons:

  • Module 1: Introduction. Upon completion of this module, students will be able to describe the purpose of the course and the course structure.
  • Module 2 Basic Concept of Guarantee for Non-Recurrence. Module two will introduce students to the concept of guarantee of non-recurrence as a pillar of transitional justice. This module will introduce basic definitions, initiatives, and concrete practices of institutional reform while also explaining why the concept is important.
  • Module 3 What Institutions need to be reformed. Module three describes what institutions need to be reformed, such as the security sector, judiciary, government and parliament. This module will also describe different strategies for institutional reform.
  • Module 4 Model and Practices for Institutional Reforms. Module four discuss different models and practices of institutional reform such as vetting, lustration, and DDR (disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration).
  • Module 7 Final Reflection. The final module provides an opportunity for personal reflection about institutional reform.
